So, after some nice camping in Lincoln Nat forest, we finally met up with our Dutch friends in Carlsbad. Unfortunately, we had a miserable boondocking site just north of town. Although the site was in a scenic location, the first thing we noticed was the thousands of nails we were parked on. There was plenty of trash and broken glass every where, and a smoldering pile of debris by the dumpster. Well, we had a nice time with our friends, but soon after lights out, the sheriff came knocking on the door (I hate late night raps on the door). The sheriff said they were doing a welfare check, and been having trouble with teenagers at the site. They all were very nice, and soon were on their way.
Shortly after they left, we were given a free simulated Metallica concert from one of said teenagers, later on, two more cars slowly drove by at 2 and 5 am. Not a big deal, but when your in the middle of no where, it puts you on high alert.
In the morning, we had some coffee and were on our way. After leaving the site, I did a quick tire check and noticed a nail in the rear dually, We drove to a nearby tire shop, they were busy but pulled the nail, poured some water on the tire and gave me the ok. I gave the guy a tenner, and we were on our way.
